The Westmoreland Intermediate Unit (WIU) will host a Special Education Teacher Certification informational evening on January 22, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Presented in partnership with the Luzerne Intermediate Unit, the session is open to individuals with bachelor’s degrees in any field.
A hybrid event, attendees can participate in person at the WIU campus, located at 102 Equity Drive in Greensburg, or virtually by visiting https://bit.ly/WIU-Special-Ed-Cert-Info-Night at the start of the session.
The Luzerne Intermediate Unit # 18 (LIU18), Office of Professional Learning, has been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to prepare candidates to obtain their PK-12 Special Education Teacher Certification. This certification program allows a person holding a bachelor’s degree in any field to obtain their Instructional I Teaching Certificate at an accelerated pace.
The certification program will consider each candidate’s previous life experience and prior educational coursework to determine their pathway to certification. Upon program completion, individuals will be eligible to be certified to teach Special Education in Pennsylvania public schools.
No registration is required for this free informational session. All session participants will have the chance to learn about the Special Education Teacher Certification program, pose questions, and arrange a one-on-one meeting with the program administrator to create a tailored enrollment and scheduling plan.
